Why Make Brats and Apples
This dish was Inspired by our fan favorite Bratwurst, Potatoes and Veggies recipe AND the flavors of Oktoberfest! I wanted to create a fun fall twist on an everyday favorite meal we enjoy for dinner regularly.
This sheet pan dinner is delicious, served with sauerkraut and a little mustard on the side. The apples add a touch of sweetness that pairs perfectly with the savory bratwurst and roasted potatoes.

Ingredients in Apples and Brats Dish
This sheet pan brats and apples recipe uses simple ingredients to create a cozy fall dinner. Juicy bratwurst, tender potatoes, sweet apples, and roasted onions come together on one pan for an easy meal inspired by Oktoberfest. Here’s what you’ll need to make it.
- Bratwurst: Use your favorite bratwurst sausages. Traditional pork bratwurst works great for this recipe.
- Apples: Any variety will work. I used red apples, which add a touch of sweetness to the savory brats and potatoes.
- Potatoes: Baby potatoes are perfect for this sheet pan dinner. Cut them into halves or quarters so they cook evenly.
- Onion: Yellow onion adds savory flavor and becomes sweet and tender as it roasts with the brats and apples.
- Avocado or Olive Oil: Helps the potatoes and onions roast until golden and lightly crispy.
- Seasonings: Salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and dried thyme add simple flavor to the potatoes and vegetables.
- Sauerkraut: Optional, but delicious served on the side for an Oktoberfest inspired meal.
- Mustard: Serve with a side of yellow or German mustard for dipping the bratwurst.
