If you're looking to get your kids started in the kitchen, you have to bake this banana bread with the kids. Banana bread is one of the easiest items to bake as it doesn't require a mixer and it's so fun to make! The kids love mashing the bananas and mixing all the ingredients together. It only takes about 10 minutes to prepare and about 50 minutes to bake. This is a really easy recipe to start your kids on if you want to teach them about baking at home. The little guy had his fair share of fun with this recipe!
Bake this Banana Bread with the Kids
I like to prepare the ingredients before getting the kids in the kitchen but it's all on your own preference. It also depends on their age and what they've already learned in the kitchen. Since I'm working on the cook book and taking photos as I go, I've found it easier to prepare along the way. It's easier for the younger kids to keep their attention going and excited for the next step when you're prepared.
The Best Banana Bread
For this banana bread, I set out all the ingredients so that the little man could add them all in himself. First, he buttered the pan. Then he added the sugar, egg, melted butter and bananas to the bowl. He got to mash all of the bananas in the bowl as they mixed in with the other ingredients.
Mashing the bananas has always been the fun part of this recipe for me too!
The little lady decided she wanted to help too so she came to help stir and add in the flour. Instead of making extra large dishes, I added the salt and baking powder together in a small dish. We added the flour straight into the bowl. Some recipes will tell you to combine the flour and baking powder in a separate bowl but I found this to work well. Then you pour the batter into the greased pan and bake for 50 minutes. Grab the full recipe below!
