Star Spangled Cookies

strawberry blueberry cookies

These are my absolute favorite kind of sugar cookies! I made these on the blog back in 2014 with Kyla and decided to recreate them with James. You can see images from both below. These Star Spangled Cookies are perfect for any holiday and are especially great for Memorial Day or the 4th of July! I love that there is fresh fruit on the cookies and the frosting is a simple cream cheese and sugar spread. I first had this type of cream cheese + fruit topped sugar cookie at a friends’ block party as a kid. It is one of the first recipes I paid close attention to so I would remember how to make them at home.

1 Basket of Blueberries

Steps
Mix the cream cheese and sugar together
Slice the strawberries into 6ths

“My kiddo was very helpful in making these cookies. She helped pour the ingredients into the bowl, roll out the dough and she was my official taste tester.” – 2014

It’s so fun looking back at these posts to see what we were making a few years ago and how she was helping out in the kitchen then too! Now, James is getting his turn to make these same cookies!

Cut stars

Slicing the strawberries into 6ths makes the stars look really nice. It only takes one strawberry to top each cookie.

Patriotic Cookies

She was a pretty big fan of these Star Spangled Cookies. Blueberries and strawberries are probably her absolute favorite thing to eat. Well, aside from cookies.” -2014

James had a lot of fun making the cookies too. He even asked me to take a video for his “cooking show”! I made a video and then he said “Can you put that on T.V.?!” Too cute!
