    Isola Pizza Bar

Angela from SD Mom's Night Out and I recently headed to Isola Pizza Bar for an appetizer tasting. We wanted to sample some of the items that will be served at our next Mom's Night Out event. I may have not said this before but I am now a part of the SD Mom's Night Out team. I am SO excited to be the creative director and help bring awesome events to San Diego Mommas! Part of my contribution is finding local and amazing restaurants to spotlight at our events. I am a super big fan of Isola Pizza Bar and since our next event is in Little Italy I wanted to make sure they would be involved.

We were pleasantly surprised by a few extra tastes of the food while we were there to sample the appetizers. The dish above is a polipo - charred octopus, kalamata, fingerling potatoes, celery, lemon, salsa verde. This is something I would have probably never ordered but I was so happy to try it. It's incredibly fresh with different flavor combinations. The octopus had an amazing char on it from being cooked in their famous pizza oven.

Our next SD Mom's Night Out event will be held at BoConcept on july 10th. I seriously can't wait for the event. Isola is going to serve up this tasty beet salad with gorgonzola cheese. The photo below is the bruschetta burrata and carciofini with artichokes, lemon aioli, capers and prosciutto. AMAZING! Seriously so delicious. I wish I had one now. These little tidbits of heaven are on their happy hour menu. We will be having something very similar at the next event.

We also tried a tasty butternut squash soup and the pizza margherita. The pizza's at Isola are also amazingly delicious. Remember that pizza oven I mentioned. Yes. It makes all the difference in the world. I have tried my hardest to make a pizza like these at home and it just does not work.

We ended the evening with a chocolate budini dessert. It had layers of chocolate with caramel and bits of sea salt throughout. I could go for another one of those right now too. HAH! Clearly I am a bit hungry but in all seriousness this place is legit and you should go there like now.

We received a meal to sample. All opinions are my own.
