There are so many fun things to do in Cabo! Cabo has become one of our favorite travel destinations. We've been a few times per year for the past few years and each trip has been amazing. Cabo is an adventure, a pleasure, a place for fun and a place to make your own. We've even found a ton of fun things to do in Cabo with kids! I'm sharing our favorite places to stay, where to eat and what to do in Cabo below.
Why Visit Cabo?
While some might say that Cabo is a touristy spot of Mexico, it's also a beautiful destination with amazing weather (almost year round)! We tend to avoid the area during hurricane season, which is August - September. Every other time I've been which includes the months of February, March, April and June, have been absolutely amazing. There are so many reasons why we have fallen in love with Cabo that I could probably talk about it all day, but my favorite reasons are the weather, the breathtaking views, the people, the culture and the laid back vibe.
San Jose del Cabo vs. Cabo San Lucas
There are two main areas in Cabo, about 30 minutes apart. San Jose del Cabo is a beautiful location where most of the all inclusive resorts are, as well as art galleries, golf courses, family owned restaurants and historic areas. Cabo San Lucas has the marina, lots of shops, restaurants, bars, lively beach spots and the downtown nightlife scene.
What to do in San Jose?
We've stayed at Palmilla Dunes each time we've stayed in San Jose del Cabo. We typically book through airbnb or VRBO and they have great rates for this area. I also recommend Grand Velas, which is a sister property from our amazing stay at Velas Vallarta. The golf course at Palmilla Golf Club is stunning and they just added comfort stations, making it a top golf course in Cabo! I also loved Cabo Del Sol for a fun day on the golf course.
Where to Eat in San Jose?
We've had some of the best meals ever in Cabo. Our favorite spots in San Jose del Cabo are Blue Fish, Sardina Cantina, Pescadito Break, Zippers, 7 Seas, Zenna and il Splendido. We love Blue Fish for a quick lunch since it's near the condo's we stay. Cream Cafe is great for coffee, they also have Italian and American food. Sardina Cantina has amazing seafood options with beautiful floral food arrangements. Pescadito Break and Zippers are right on the beach. Zippers has Mexican and American food, while Pescadito has mariscos and great drinks. 7 Seas has an amazing menu and one of my favorite meals ever included their Seabass with risotto and veggies. Zenna and il Splendido also have excellent food options right at Palmilla Dunes.
What to do in Cabo San Lucas?
There are so many fun things to do in Cabo San Lucas. Cabo can be whatever you make of it. It can be a relax by the pool all day place, or you can pack your days full of activities. I'm more of a relax by the pool or the beach, eat all the food and walk around type of traveller these days, but I'm all in for trying new experiences.
The Food & Drinks in Cabo
There are so many great food options. Our fav Local Taco Stands are El Gran Pastor & Taco Guss. Mango Deck is great for lunch. This is right on the beach, they have live contests and loud music. They will put your lounge chair right up to the water and serve you shrimp nachos and buckets of beer, if you're into that kind of thing. The Office is great for any meal of the day. We've had awesome lobster & steak dinner. Maro's Shrimp House is where we get lobster and steak dinners for ~$20. Don't miss The Italian Job, I never thought to try Italian in Mexico, but it was one of our favorite experiences. They have amazing food, ambiance, live music and service!
We often stay at Tesoro, which is a great resort in the marina. This resort includes breakfast with your stay so we typically eat here while in Cabo San Lucas for breakfast. We also love the breakfast at Billygans and The Office. spread and lots of options including a build your own omelet bar, chilaquiles, fruit and rotating breakfast choices.
There are always great drink options wherever you go in Cabo but some of our fav mixed cocktails were from Corazon, Tabasco and a guy on the beach named Rodrigo!
The Water Taxi's This is pure relaxation for me. The water taxi's will take you from the marina to view the arch or over to the beach where The Office & Mango Deck are located. These are usually $5-$10 per person. There is just something about the ocean breeze, the music and the views all at the same time.
We tried the Garrufa Spa where the little fish eat the dead skin off your toes. This was so weird but totally worth trying.
Go on a whale watching or sunset cruise on Eco Cat. They offer really fun tours around the ocean with beautiful views of the arch. If you get a chance to stop by Corazon, they have beautiful views from their rooftop pool and bar.
There's lots of spots for shopping at the beach and near downtown. Shopping in Mexico is always an adventure! I also seem to like to get henna tattoos on my feet when I'm at the beach.
I have been on many trips to Cabo, but not nearly as many as my brother from Build a Life in Cabo. He's shown us some amazing spots and we always have such a great time. If you have any questions about Cabo, be sure to drop them in the comments below. Happy traveling! xo, Bri
