We've been to Palm Springs several times but this last visit was extra special. We spent a weekend in Palm Springs with the kids and had a blast. It was just the four of us. It was nice to have that one-on-one time with each of us outside of our daily lives to reconnect. Visit Palm Springs sponsored our fun-packed weekend and gave us extra ideas of what to do. Palm Springs has always been a fun weekend destination since it's only a two hour car drive away from San Diego. We love Palm Springs for its eclectic, cool and playful vibe.
We stayed at the stylish, Riviera Palm Springs for our stay and loved its laid back ambiance. The first day we checked in and headed to lunch at Rick's. It is walking distance away and a good spot for a meal. We headed straight to the pool for afternoon fun. To say we enjoyed our time at the pool would be an understatement. We LOVED the pool at Riviera Palm Springs. They have 2 pools, both with DJs.
We floated around and danced in the pool to the tunes. We could easily walk out to either pool from our room. I grabbed dinner at Blaze Pizza which was perfect because the kids were starving and they were super quick. We ate in the room and the kids passed out after the afternoon in the pool. In the morning we grabbed a bite to eat at Rick's again then headed to Wet n' Wild.
I'm really not sure who enjoyed the water park more, Mark or the kids. I'm pretty sure Mark would have stayed there all weekend if we didn't have to stop to you know, eat and sleep. He got the little missy to go down most of the large water slides and she was smiling ear to ear. Watching both of them enjoy the slides was super sweet. The little guy and I stuck to the wave pool, the lazy river and the small slides. That's more my speed anyway!
After the Wet n' Wild we rested a bit then enjoyed a little more pool time before dinner.
We ate at Pho 533 Viet Fusion for dinner. It was incredibly fresh with lots of flavors and speciality dishes. We loved the Crunchy Tiger Shrimp Roll. Actually everything we had was worth trying. Even the lime + coconut flan was delicious. The Ahi Nachos were also a hit.
Quick Tip: Ask for a room with a patio! Our kiddos go to bed pretty early so it was very nice to have our own time outside while they slept.
The next morning we ate at Cafe Palmetto at the Riviera. I had the Acai bowl and Mark tried the yogurt with honey and fresh granola with berries. The kiddos enjoyed bacon and eggs with Mickey Mouse Pancakes. All of the food was fresh, delicious and beautiful.
Since we enjoyed the pool so much we went for one last dip on Sunday morning after breakfast. Then we picked up some sandwiches and headed to the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. It was our first time and we all found it to be spectacular. I really never thought it would be something I would enjoy but it was really fun and very special for the kiddos.
The little missy was slightly frightened and then she enjoyed the trip down. The little guy couldn't get enough! The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is the world's largest tramcar that goes up the cliffs of Chino Canyon. The 10-minute trip starts at Valley Station and ends at Mountain Station at over 8,000 feet. Once you're at the top there are 50+ miles of hiking trails. It took us about 1.5-2 hours to do this adventure from start to finish. There are restaurants at the top as well. The views were amazing!
We had an awesome stay at the Riviera Palm Springs and even made a video for you to check out the spot.
Have you been to Palm Springs lately? What's your favorite activity with the kids?
