Walk Your Own Path

Each year since I started this blog, I’ve shared my dream board for the year. Here it is the end of February and I’m just getting to this but I’m totally okay with that. Sometimes our lives don’t fit in with the rest of the world. When I sat down to share my 2017 dream board today all I could think of is to walk your own path. It just kept coming to me. I also realized that dream boards are awesome to do any time of the year and for any amount of time that works for you. I’ve always loved dream boards because it is a visual representation of who I am and where I am going. It helps me as a creative person to believe in whatever I want to achieve.

I believe we are all here for different reasons. We are meant to follow our passions and do what brings us joy. When you do these things than you are able to build a life around what you love so that life is fulfilling in all aspects. I hear a lot of people say they will start enjoying life once they retire or after work. I also hear people talking about money and things like it is going to change something about how they feel about themselves or life. It makes me cringe when I hear these things. I believe the key to happiness is within. When you are completely happy with who you are and you are following your dreams, you can do anything you desire.

Sometimes we hold ourselves back because we are scared or we don’t know how to change the way we think. My friend and client, Juliette started a Facebook group called Take Care of You and we’ve been reading a book by Louise Hay called You can Heal Your Life which I have found very helpful. It is all about our mental patterns and how these patterns can also create dis-eases in the body. I believe we often resist change because of things we believe to be factual but are actually just thoughts that can be changed. The book really goes through different thought patterns and how you can create new affirmations to make real changes in your life. One section says “The universe totally supports us in every thought we choose to think and believe”. She is saying that when we choose to think a certain way than that is what will be true for you. If you believe “People are out to get me” over “everyone is always helpful” than that is how it will be for you. I know I have fallen into that first statement but when I make sure to take care of myself and stay in a positive frame of mind than I believe “everyone is always helpful”. I have tested and tried these theories and we really do get back what we put out.

I also believe self care is super important for all well-being. This brings me back to walking your own path. I think we all need to stop listening to all the chatter around us and start believing in ourselves. Do what works for you and push forward. On my dream board this year I included “Shine” as my word for the year. Part of what I realized in 2016 is that I don’t always speak my mind. I sometimes stay quiet to not offend people because I was taught “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” It’s not that I don’t still find most of that to be true but when we hold in our feelings about things it is not good for our bodies. I am learning how to speak my mind without being offensive. My leo tendencies sometimes get the best of me though and I just blurt things out that I could say more eloquently. It’s a work in progress.

  1. I love this post! I feel you on everything here. It’s so refreshing. I can see you shindig through your words. Keeping doing what you’re doing, and keep sharing your light with the world. I was listening to a podcast recently and one thing that stuck was, “stay in your own lane!” So similar to what you say here. Love you and your vibes! Xoxo!
