San Diego Food Love: Café Cantata

I was invited to check out Café Cantata in Del Mar for breakfast and coffee. My girl and I met up with our friends to check out the new spot. Café Cantata is awesome for a quick stop to grab coffee and a meal or to stay and work a while. I wish this place was located in Mira Mesa because I would be there every week.

The atmosphere is that of a coffee shop fit with tables and couches. The chalkboard menu and Serving Great Food sign bring a hipster mellow vibe. The restaurant is connected to a stationary and gift shop.

The menu items are all fresh and homemade. The prices are decent especially for Del Mar. It’s a great spot to meet up with friends for coffee or a meal.

We ordered the smoked salmon scramble and the gluten free french toast with strawberry compote. Both dishes were top notch. The salmon dish was pretty unique to any other breakfast I have tried and I am a huge smoked salmon fan. I couldn’t get enough. The Cafe Cantata latte was a delicious blend of a regular latte and chai tea. Fab!

I love the décor. If I were to ever open a coffee shop it would look just like this one. Small café tables, comfy couches, chalkboard notes and reclaimed pieces fill the room.

I’m not quite sure how they managed to create such a comforting feel in a strip mall but it totally works. I love that the windows open up to the outside bringing in that natural lighting.

Have you been to Cafe Cantata? What was your favorite dish?

I was invited for a preview tasting of the restaurant. All opinions are my own.

I love sharing about family, food and fun in and around San Diego! Enjoy, Bri
