I absolutely love using my iPhone to take photos but the brightness is not always as high as I would like it to be. I have been using photoshop for years to help make my photos pop and look more like high quality photos. I have found a few tools to be essential in creating higher quality images. Best Buy offered me a year of the Adobe Creative Cloud Photoshop program so I could share these fun tips with you. See below for 3 easy steps to high quality photos using Photoshop.
Last week I took the kiddos to the Birch Aquarium and snapped a few photos along the way. I love how the jellyfish image goes together so well with the views of La Jolla. The images on the top left were taken with my iPhone 6 with no adjustments. After using these 3 photoshop tools I created the images on the top right:
1. Brightness / Contrast: This tool is located in the layers palate and can be adjusted up or down. I always bring up the brightness to be between 50-70. If your image is already really bright you will not need to do this. I typically bring up the contrast to about half of what I have brightened it to.
2. Vibrance: Now I am no photoshop expert but I don’t remember this tool in my old CS3 version of Photoshop. I am loving this Vibrance feature. It is also located in the layers palate and can just be adjusted up to your liking. It is combined with the Saturation tool so you can adjust it to however you’d like.
3. Filter > Sharpen: This one is very easy. Just go to the top menu: Filter > Sharpen > Sharpen. Done. This brings out the crispness in the image.
Blur Tool: I also often use the blur tool as I did in the very bottom image. I did not want the bushes to be a focal point so I used the blur tool to minimize their impact on the image. There you have it! Easy, peasy 🙂
Like what you see? The Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Plan is a 1-year subscription (encompassing Photoshop Creative Cloud and Lightroom Creative Cloud) used for photo editing and convenience with multi-screen capabilities. I love these programs because they are perfect for everyday edits as well as helpful for the more advanced photographers.
I was compensated in the form of a Best Buy Gift Card and/or received the product/service at a reduced price or for free. All opinions are my own. I have been an avid user of photoshop for years.
