Last night I got to try out Native Foods Cafe in Encinitas. They are known for their completely vegan, made-from-scratch menu. All of their items are completely plant based and everything is made fresh daily. They aim to please vegans and non-vegans with tasty and natural foods. As a “non-vegan” I was a very happy customer and would definitely go back for more!
Portobello and Sausage Burger
Juicy grilled portobellos, our homemade Native Sausage Seitan, caramelized onions, pomodoro, sweet roasted garlic, creamy pumpkin seed pesto and mayo.
I LOVED the Portobello and Sausage Burger! The grilled portobellos with roasted garlic and creamy pumpkin pesto mayo was a harmonious combination. The sweet potato fries were also top notch!
Nuevo Native Nachos
Homemade corn tortilla chips covered in black beans, Native Taco Meat, Native Chipotle Crema, Native Cheese, salsa fresca, and guacamole. Topped with corn, green onions, cilantro and jalapenos.
The Nuevo Native Nachos were quite tasty. I was hesitant to try items that were completely vegan but I must say they were some of the best nachos I have had.
Fresh watermelon and a touch of mint. Sweetened with organic agave.
Native Iced Tea
Organic hibiscus and wild berry tea. Sweetened with organic agave.
French lavender steeped with fresh lemons. Sweetened with organic sugar.
I absolutely loved the Lavender Lemonade! A splash of the Native Iced Tea made it even better. The manager recommended I try them all together and it was a satisfying combo.
Native Foods Cafe has great imagery and a fun use of type.
Roasted Corn & Basil Polenta Bites
Pesto baked polenta topped with fresh roasted corn, basil, red pepper, onion and a touch of Native Cheese.
The Polenta Bites were a tasty treat to accompany my mushroom “burger”. The display of the plate was beautiful.
Carrot Cream Cheese Cupcake
Fresh grated carrots combined with cinnamon and orange juice. Baked to perfection and topped with a vanilla cream cheese frosting.
Yummy! I could go for another carrot cupcake right now!
