BriGeeski I just love San Diego Restaurant Week. It’s a great way to try out a restaurant at a reduced rate and really get a good sampling of the food they have to offer. This week we tried out Croce’s Park West in Bankers Hill. The sophisticated restaurant is ideal for an after work drink or a meal to catch up with great friends. They have live music every night and delicious dining options.
My favorite dish of the night was the Truffle Ricotta Gnocchi served with roasted mushrooms and leek fondue. I love fresh made pasta and this dish was very well prepared. The seasoning was spot on and the flavors went so well together.
We also tried the popular Tempura Calamari with Red and Green Jalapeños served with chipotle aioli and oregano marinara. The chipotle aioli is a must try. My kiddo actually gobbled up the calamari with the marinara sauce. I was so surprised since I have never seen her eat calamari but she couldn’t get enough.
The Bordeaux Braised Short Ribs, with white cheddar Mac-n-Cheese, wilted chard and roasted cipolline onions was my favorite of the entrees we chose. The mac-n-cheese was super creamy and the short ribs are melt-in-your-mouth delicious.
We tried the Wild Mushroom Potato “Lasagna” with smoked heirloom tomatoes, lemon ricotta, goat cheese, asparagus, and basil mint pesto in a Mediterranean spicy tomato coulis. The dish was different from any other iv’e tried. It had good flavor but wasn’t my favorite.
The desserts were both delicious. We tried the Fondant au Chocolat melted warm chocolate cake with fresh raspberries and the Meyer Lemon Budino lemon pudding cake with whipped cream and fresh berries. I am a sucker for any budino especially lemon! YUM!
We also had the pleasure of meeting Ingrid Croce and her husband at dinner. They were both so very nice and very welcoming. Croce’s Park west is such a nice neighborhood restaurant and I recommend you give it a try!
