Capturing Moments With Photo Books

I have this thing about taking photos of everything, mostly my kids and food. I share a lot about our adventures here on the blog and on social channels but I realized I wanted something tactical to hold on to. I reached out to our partner, Mixbook to help bring this post to life and share about our love for photo books. Capturing moments with photo books is a great way to be able to look back at our memories for years to come. I take A LOT of photos. This was no small feat. I went through 13,000 photos from the past 6 years just to start this project.

I started this project by looking through all of my photos in iPhoto. I created folders on my desktop for each year so that I could easily save which photos I wanted to use in each book. This took a few late nights to sort through and really helped remind me to do this sort of stuff more often so that it is not such a daunting task. I ended up with about 60-100 photos per book. I made one book for each year since the little missy was born. The first 3 books I created are my little missy’s early years. It was so fun looking back at how she’s grown and all the special moments along the way.

Once I got all of my photos sorted into folders by year, it was a really quick process to create the photo books on Mixbook. I really liked the Everyday Modern Family template because it was clean and customizable. After selecting a template, you just upload your photos and customize the book however you’d like. I found the process super simple and user friendly.

You can very easily customize each page with different layouts, text and fun stickers. I kept mine pretty simple so the photos would shine but I did add a few of their cute stickers like the “photos” text below.

I love to take a look back in time every once in a while to relish in the little moments that are captured and remember the memories that go along with the photos. The photo books look great on a coffee table or even displayed on a shelf like ours are in the living room.

Where do you keep your photo books? Let me know in the comments! I’m starting a collection now and may need some creative ideas. xo – Bri

  1. I am in desperate need of doing this exact thing with my photos. Such a big project! I do have a subscription to have my personal instagram feed printed in books though, so at least I have those. I keep them up on my built in shelves. My 6 year old loves looking back on the last few years in photos.
