I loved dirt cups when I was a kid. It was like a special little silly treat that only came around once in a while. I know my kiddo has tried these little treats a few times but I hadn’t yet had the chance to make them for her till today. We have made chocolate chip cookies together and taken cute Easter photos but we hadn’t yet made an Easter dessert.
First, we gathered all of our supplies. The idea originally came out of spotting these cute Easter fruit Snacks. The fruit snacks are shaped like little bunnies and eggs. I thought they would make for good “worms”. Then I grabbed a few straws and washi tape to make little flags. I had a few small flower cutouts leftover from our wedding invites that matched well too.

I made the little flags while my kiddo sampled the fruit snacks. I wrapped a piece of tape around a straw and cut the ends into a flag. I added “Hoppy Easter” for a little flare. After our supplies were ready we made the pudding. We just used an instant chocolate pudding and let it set while we separated the chocolate sandwich cookies.
I placed the cookie halves in a large ziplock bag and rolled a rolling pin over the bag several times until the “dirt” was created. I like to leave a few chunks for a little crunch.
I used a cookie scoop to drop the pudding into the cups. This made it so easy and mess free! I also rolled the ziplock bag down and used the scoop to get the “dirt” right on top of the “mud”.
I added the little flags with a bunny on top and a few eggs in the dirt. Then I tied a piece of twine around the jar. All of this is so not needed to share a special treat with my kiddo but it just made it a little more fun.
